Dog bites man

The Rev. Jerry Falwell died today. I was never a big fan of the man -- I'm not much in favor of "men of God" (whether on the left or the right) getting involved in politics. That "not much in favor of," however, does not extend to laymen or church members in general.

Now to what's not news: the reaction on the left.

In the "starting to catch on" category is the Huffington Post -- it has shut off comments on the Falwell story.

Over at the DailyKos, where bile and vitriol is on the cafeteria menu every day, we have this beauty from "CurseDem".

Reverend Falwell was found unconscious in his office at Liberty University, drooling on himself with his eyes rolled back in his head, half eaten sandwich lodged between two of his necks. At first, his secretary saw this as nothing out of the ordinary, but when he went a complete minute without muttering "damn faggots" softly in his sleep, medical authorities were immediately called.

While waiting for an ambulance, the secretary cracked open his secret God vault, removing and cracking open Rev. Falwell's secret stash of stem cells, specially exonerated from moral wrongdoing by his own special blessing... and the fact that a black man provided the sperm, thereby negating its human value.

The comments are, for the most part, standard hate speech -- if directed at any designated victim group. Early on, only two people appear to want to urge the Kossacks to be ... what's the word ... human. The rest are perfectly content to wallow in an ever-larger pigsty of hate.
