This is nuts

The House of Representatives is debating a bill that would offer compensation to residents of Guam for the Japanese occupation of World War II.

Let me make this clear: the United States House of Representatives is considering whether or not to pay Guamanians for what the Japanese did to them during World War II.

What's next? Are we going to pay reparations to the Armenians for the Turkish genocide? The French for the Nazi occupation of World War II?

This is what you get when Democrats are in charge. Frankly, I'd prefer a bridge to nowhere, it doesn't set nearly as bad a precedent.

  1. We already rewarded Guam for their loyalty during World War II by offering every citizen of Guam United States citizenship.
They earned it many times over by resisting torture and beheading at the hands of their Imperial Japanese captors. The Japanese were looking for an American spy who was radioing in their movements and disposition, but they never found him, because there was not a single citizen of Guam willing to betray him.
The idea of cash payments is ridiculous, yes, but don't let that tarnish in any way the real and deep sacrifice the people of Guam made in helping us fight Imperial Japan.
I am also certain that should any enemy threaten Guam we would come to Guam's defense just as Guam did for us during World War II. What more could a friend ask for than that? A monthly check?
