Who works for you?

I'm a little amazed that the press didn't give Sen. Barack Obama the "Do-I-Look-Stupid?"-look after he claimed first that the team he's got helping him pick a VP isn't actually working for him because they're unpaid. And I'm even more amazed they didn't laugh out loud when he claimed that the same people -- doing the most important job laying the groundwork for the most important decision Obama's got to make as a candidate -- were "tangential" to his campaign.

The intern in Topeka who goes out for pizza and photocopies your campaign fliers is "tangential." Jim Johnson and Eric Holder are "key."

Take a guess on how Obama would've reacted if President Bush had dismissed "Brownie" as "tangential" to his administration after Hurricane Katrina.

UPDATE

News is breaking that Jim Johnson has quit the Veep search committee, saying that he could no longer work for Obama.

Wait a second, I though he wasn't working for Obama. I guess both Barack and I were wrong.
