Whiplash warning

Former Sen. Tom Daschle was on "Fox News Sunday" yesterday morning when the following exchange occurred:

Chris Wallace: Sen. Daschle, now that we are finally making progress in Iraq, why is Sen. Obama still determined to get all of our troops out within 16 months?

Daschle: Well Chris, I think that's the whole question. Why do we need them if things are going this well?

Ow! My neck!

Is Daschle seriously going to try to sell this? That's not the storyline Democrats have been spinning -- including Obama -- since the surge started. They predicted that more troops = more causualties and wailed and moaned. And then, when it started working, they resorted to a two-fold approach. First, it was working because the Iranians were unwittingly helping us. Second, political progress wasn't being made by the unified Iraqi government.

Both of those have now been abandoned and the new reasoning is that President George W. Bush (lied, people died) and his Iraq war are such a success that all of the troops can come home now?

To quote Jack Nicholson: Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all full up here.
