Dumb as a bag of hammers

No, I'm not sure exactly what the headline on this post means. It just has a certain feeling to it. Maybe it's because of the sound a bag of hammers makes when you drop it on the floor -- or swing it and hit California Sen. Barbara Boxer in the head. This would mean that the bag is not paper, but made of sturdier cloth -- or maybe hemp for all you potheads.

Evidence? Well, when you've got the general in charge of U.S. forces in Iraq before your committee, do you ask him questions or do you lecture him? An analogous situation to this one would be something along the lines of a developmentally disabled 2-year-old lecturing Stephen Hawking on astrophysics.

If you fast forward to the very end, you can hear Sen. Joseph Biden direct Gen. David Petraeus to "respond" to Boxer in writing. It's not like she asked any serious questions -- questions designed to elicit information that is important to her or anyone else. Nope, the entire thing was merely a political speech.

I've got even more respect for Petraeus after watching him endure that, because I couldn't have managed it. One of my character flaws is that I do not suffer fools gladly -- and Boxer is probably the biggest fool in Congress.
