The "Breaking News" of the day is that former CIA agent Valerie Plame is suing Vice President Dick Cheney, his former chief of staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby and presidential adviser Karl Rove for leaking her identity to get revenge against her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson.

If somebody I'd just passed on the street had mentioned this, I'd think they were pulling my leg.

If this doesn't get laughed out of court, then it will show just how far our justice system has fallen.

Can the American people sue Valerie Plame for nepotism or theft of government funds for sending her husband to Niger on his famous junket?

And, just to show how well the media has taken to Wilson's false narrative, the last graf of the initial AP dispatch reads:

The CIA had sent Wilson to Niger in early 2002 to determine whether there was any truth to reports that Saddam Hussein's government had tried to buy yellowcake uranium from Niger to make a nuclear weapon. Wilson discounted the reports, but the allegation nevertheless wound up in President Bush's 2003 State of the Union address.

Let's not forget the facts:
Plame suggested her husband for the job -- not the vice president's office as Wilson initially alleged.

Wilson confirmed that Iraq had sought yellowcake from Niger, but said it was unlikely that they actually got their hands on any.

The State of the Union address quoted British intelligence -- which still stands behind the story -- and the British intel was less specific, identifying the contintent of Africa, not Niger specifically.

Their 15 minutes of fame just won't end. I hope their lawyer isn't working on a contingency basis.

Which brings us to this piece by Don Surber taking the elite media to task for not standing behind columnist/journalist Robert Novak and instead using their news and editorial pages to press (excuse the pun) a political witch hunt against the Bush administration.
