The Supreme Court's decision in the Hamdan case (which gave terrorists who don't follow the rules of war the protection of those who do follow the rules of war) should've signalled to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere that unless you've captured a very important terrorist leader, that summary executions -- allowed by the Geneva Conventions for those who don't follow the rules of war -- are the way to go.
Israel too might want to think twice about capturing and imprisoning those whose sole purpose is the destruction of Israel after the latest attacks by Hezbollah.
Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah told reporters that "direct negotiations" would be the only way to return the soldiers and that their capture was "our natural, only and logical right."
I'm sorry to say it, but I think that the captured Israeli soldiers are all but dead. Israel probably brought this sort of behavior upon themselves by agreeing to prisoner swaps in the past -- something that's not going to happen this time. These terrorist groups (Hezbollah, Hamas, Fatah) will not stop until Israel no longer exists. There is absolutely no reason to take prisoners so that terrorists believe they can bargain for their release.
