Bush hatred

Things like this just tick me off -- whoever does it.

Three-year-old Sophia Parlock cries while seated on the shoulders of her father, Phil Parlock, after having their Bush-Cheney sign torn up by Kerry-Edwards supporters on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va. Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards made a brief stop at the airport as he concluded his two-day bus tour to locations in West Virginia and Ohio. (AP Photo/Randy Snyder)

Her father probably isn't the sharpest tool in the shed to take her to what amounts as a counterprotest, but that doesn't excuse the actions of the Kerry supporters -- she's a little girl for crying out loud.

I'd also like to encourage parents to think twice about taking young children to any "peace rallies." If the one I attended was typical -- and everything I've seen and heard indicates that it was -- then you'll hear more cuss words than in an NC-17 rated movie.

I think Kerry and Edwards could show some real class by using some of Teresa's dough and send a big teddy bear to Sophia along with an apology. I know Kerry didn't encourage his supporters to do this, but it would show a bit of humanity.
