Creating or saving

Jim Geraghty takes a slam at President Barack Obama's "created or saved" X number of jobs claim.

Look, I Just 'Saved or Created' Another Blog Post

The Obama administration's relentless use of the "saved or created" metric, even in the face of increasing ridicule, is pretty remarkable. But if it won't die, perhaps the concept ought to be used more frequently.

For example, I can credit Joe Mathieu's "Press Pool" on POTUS with "saving or creating" 18.6 million subscribers for XM-Sirius. Interestingly, Cam at NRA News can make the exact same claim, as can every show on that joint network.

My exceptionally pithy analysis in 140 characters or less has "saved or created" more than 1,700 Twitter followers.

Sure, it looks like Rachel Maddow's ratings are getting lower, but she's actually "saved or created" 1.1 million viewers.

Speaking as one of the people whose job Obama failed to "save," I'm increasingly annoyed by his continued insistence on peddling a number that has little connection with reality. You'll be able to tell that the media is working its way to the edge of the humongous tank they're in when they hammer him on this point until he drops it from embarrassment.
