What's wrong with the mother country?

Here's hoping that we don't follow Great Britain down whatever road it's heading down, because it doesn't look like that society is going to survive a whole lot longer.

First, a foster mother has been fired for allowing a 16-year-old girl in her care to convert to Christianity.

The carer is a single mother of two in her 50s who has worked with young children for much of her life. She has had an unblemished record since becoming a foster parent in the North of England in 1999.

Of the Christian convert, she said: 'I did initially try to discourage her. I offered her alternatives.

'I offered to find places for her to practise her own religion. I offered to take her to friends and family.

'But she said to me from the word go, 'I am interested and I want to come.' She sort of burst in.'

The only thing here I have issue with is the initial attempt to discourage the teenager from going to church.

Then we have this bit of anti-Semitism from the British foreign service:

Allegations that a senior British diplomat launched into an anti-Semitic rant in a London gym while watching TV footage from Gaza will not upset the "treadmill of diplomacy", the Israeli Ambassador to London said today.

In a curiously tongue-in-cheek response to a case that has provoked concern within the Jewish community in Britain, Ron Prosor added that the tirade did not reflect "the health and fitness of our relations".

The diplomat, 47-year-old Rowan Laxton, allegedly shouted "f***ing Israelis, f***ing Jews" while watching television reports of the Israeli attack on Gaza last month.

He is also alleged to have said that Israeli soldiers should be "wiped off the face of the Earth" during the rant at the London Business School gym near Regents Park on January 27. The tirade reportedly continued even after other gym users asked him to stop.

Yes, he's apparently a "diplomat." But not a very good one obviously.

Reading through Donald McNeil's account of his ouster at the times and amused by his "God and Adolph" anecdote. I had a similar sort of experience at the SDUT.

@GlennKesslerWP Reading your whole thing, it so often feels if you're obfuscating rather than making things clear.

1) Obamacare mandated that LSOTP do something
2) LSOTP say "no", sue on religious grounds
3) Trump admin grants them waiver
4) CA AG says "no waivers!"
