The political brouhaha that has come up as a result of the Democrats S-CHIP public relations stunt using Graeme Frost of Baltimore, Md., reached the pages of The New York Times.
This new reporting by the Times requires some corrections of facts stated in my previous blog post.
According to the story, the Frosts income consists of rent from the commercial property they own, mother Bonnie Frost's part-time job and off-again, on-again jobs by their father.
“We work hard, we’re honest, we pay our taxes,” Mr. Frost said, adding, “There are hard-working families that really need affordable health insurance.”
I'm sorry. Really, I am. But I know plenty of people who "work hard" at jobs that require more than 40 hours a week or multiple jobs that require much more than 40 hours a week. For a family with four kids and parents that only work a single part time job a piece -- you can debate whether or not they should qualify for S-CHIP or what sort of public assistance they should receive, but you'll excuse me if I am skeptical if Halsey Frost really understands what truly hard work is.
Michelle Malkin, who is quoted in the article, responds here.
