Justice Alito hates the little guy

Or maybe Ted "I left my car in the drink ... along with my date" Kennedy just gets his demagoguery wrong. The day after his elevation to the high court, Justice Samuel Alito sided with the court's liberal block to block the execution of a convicted murderer. For those of you wary of Souter Part II, I wouldn't be too worried that this decision is an indicator of liberalism to come. I see it as giving the appeals courts enough rope on the issue of whether lethal-injection-is-inhumane so that the Supreme Court can hang the murderer with it.

On a related note: The Third Circuit Court of Appeals announced several decisions yesterday that Alito had voted on. According to the guys at Powerline,  Alito once again applied his legal intellect and came down on the side of a woman alleging employment discrimination.

It's a good day when you're able to show Ted Kennedy as an old fool. Let's hope in the coming weeks that Alito starts proving Kennedy "right" when he votes as a conservative jurist and leaves the legislating to the legislature.
