Long before Obamacare became the law of the land, many opponents – including myself – had made the point that President Obama’s oft-repeated claim that “if you like the insurance you have, you can keep it,” was a promise he had no power to keep. With Obamacare’s mandates and changes in funding mechanisms, it is impossible that health insurance offered by empolyers and insurance companies wouldn’t change.
Did the mainstream media call President Obama on this falsehood? No, as evidenced by the fact that he continued to repeat it.
Now, as part of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s promise that now that the bill is passed we’ll get to know what’s in it, the media is finally starting to do its job.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Over and over in the health care debate, President Barack Obama said people who like their current coverage would be able to keep it.
But an early draft of an administration regulation estimates that many employers will be forced to make changes to their health plans under the new law. In just three years, a majority of workers—51 percent—will be in plans subject to new federal requirements, according to the draft.
