FactCheck.org analyzes the swift boat vets latest ad and comes up with this headline:

Swift Boat Veterans Anti-Kerry Ad: "He Betrayed Us" With 1971 Anti-War Testimony

Group quotes Kerry's descriptions of atrocities by US forces. In fact, atrocities did happen.

This analysis/Kerry-apology is lame. Yes, of course there were atrocities by U.S. forces during the Vietnam War. There were also atrocities by VC forces. The bone of contention is whether or not atrocities were widespread and done with the "full awareness of officers at all levels of command."

The swift boat vets aren't arguing that there were no atrocities.

FactCheck.org attempts to make the case that Kerry's testimony was really a critique of U.S. policy and not the men who served in the armed forces. That assertion is incredibly weak.
