Simply Infanticide

The mask is off. The Democratic party is for abortion on demand, up to and past the point of birth. It is simply infanticide.

Earlier this month, New York passed a bill that allows abortion at any point during the pregnancy if the health-care practitioner (no longer necessarily an actual medical doctor) deems it necessary for the mother's life or health. The latter, that health exception, has been the loophole that pro-abortion (and really, at this point, that's all they are) advocates have used to justify abortion up until the moment of birth. If a woman suddenly is anxious about the pregnancy or is unsure whether she wants to keep the baby, that's enough to justify abortion by the letter of the law.

In Vermont, a similar law is being debated that includes a provision that would not just remove the ability of prosecutors to charge those who kill wanted fetuses (e.g. the murder of a pregnant woman), but would allow fetuses to be used for organ harvesting or even maintained in an artificial womb for purposes of experimentation.

Lawmakers in Virginia are attempting something even worse, if that is possible.

This questioning of bill author Kathy Tran went viral last night:

Again, to put it bluntly, this is simply infanticide. At 40 weeks, there is no medical reason to kill the baby in utero then deliver the corpse, rather than simply delivering the baby alive.

None.  In fact, it would be more dangerous for the mother to proceed this way.

This morning, Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam weighed in, defending Tran's odious bill.

The money quote:

If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.

And what would that discussion entail? Infanticide?

And then there's the media

I'd encourage you to watch all of Northam's comments in that clip, but also realize that the WTOP reporter either doesn't care, or doesn't recognize that Northam has just come out in support of infanticide.

Likewise, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reporting on the original exchange, makes no mention of the fact that the bill allows for the murder of a baby completely able to survive on its own outside the mother's womb. Instead the article is cast in the predictable "Republicans pounce" narrative.

A video clip of a first-term Virginia lawmaker saying she would allow abortions up until the moment of birth went viral in conservative media circles Tuesday night, with Republicans saying it amounted to "barbaric infanticide" and Democrats accusing Republicans of an election-year stunt.

Democrat politicians and the media (but I repeat myself) have abandoned the Clinton-era standard of "safe, legal, and rare" to embrace "abortion on-demand and without apology." This despite polls that show that the majority of Americans believe that abortion should be illegal after the first trimester. The media like to pretend that late-term abortions don't happen for frivolous reasons, but as the Kermit Gosnell trial demonstrated, sometimes they do.

There's extremists here, but they aren't the Republicans. It's the party pushing something that is simply infanticide.
