In a speech last week in France, Obama displayed a troubling ignorance of history:
In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.
The last time Europe took a leading role in the world, Germany was led by Adolf Hitler and Great Britain by Winston Churchill. When there was genocide going on in the Balkans -- right on Europe's doorstep -- who led? Not Europe. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, who led? Not Europe.
America has let Europe lead on one issue: Iran's nuclear program. How has that worked out?
Since World War II, Europe has been a follower. Heck, the German troops in Afghanistan at one point couldn't fire unless fired upon. (This may still be the case.)
I may be guilty of being dismissive and derisive, but at least I know history.

Hmmm, if you interchange the words America and Europe, then maybe the statement starts to make sense ...
You know actualy the last 63 years of human history that's all!
Claiming that, make you, in the eyes of the rest of the world , look ignorant and arrogant. And that is precisly the point of all who say that you are "dismisive and derisive"and who feel the same about you but with right: They know the 2937 years human history before...
Get a school and be humble, cornboy!
Obama's statement suggests that Europe still has a leading role in the world. That was his point. His point was wrong.
I have said it before and I will say it again, Obama regards the US in the same way that a teenager regards his parents, as something (or someone) that profoundly embarrasses him, though he doesn't quite understand why. That is why he is always apologizing for the US. Teenagers ultimately grow up and get over their irrationality. I hope Obama grows up too.
I honestly do not understand Paulh's response. "feel the same about you but with right:"? "The 2937 years human history before..."? "Get a school and be humble,"? "cornboy!"???
