More wasteful spending

I keep getting the feeling that the 2010 Census has a secondary purpose of propping up the U.S. Postal Service. First, they send a letter telling you that next week you’ll get the census form. Then you get the census form. The next week they send you a reminder post card to return the census, never having checked to see if they’ve already received it.

It might not save a lot of money if they’d just sent only the census form, but nowadays every bit counts.

  1. The thing that gets me is that they tell me I am compelled by Federal Law to complete the form, but there is no due date listed anywhere. So its sitting in my in box, I should get around to it around 2015 or so (don't want to break Federal Law, or anything)

  2. Don't make a joke out of the census. There are parties that are trying to use it to distort the ethnic make-up of the country for the sake of government grants, affirmative action, and so on. I wish ethnicity meant nothing, but it clearly does, so it is best to have an accurate census, with everyone responding quickly.

BTW, the form looks long, but it is actually quite short. For me, there were only about three questions to answer.

  3. What bothers me even more is the silly commercial campaign they are running, where their major selling point is that you need to complete the form so that your community will get the funding it deserves. Shows again the different mindset of the left, where it is all about the government goodies.
