Debating who gets the blame

I finally got around to listening to NPR's Intelligence Squared debate on whether Washington or Wall Street is more to blame for the financial crisis. You can follow the link to listen to the debate yourself.

What I found particularly amusing was a line by Niall Ferguson who represented the side blaming Washington. His opponents had been placing blame on Wall Street because of all the money the investment firms, banks and hedge funds spent on lobbying Congress.

Ferguson's response was priceless.

They speak as though Wall Street debauched a virgin, when it was really paying a harlot.
