Fred Thompson drops out

Former Sen. Fred Thompson today dropped his presidential bid. Thompson entered the race in September 2007, more than half a year after most of his rivals. That, along with a luckluster start to his campaigning, doomed the actor and Tennessee Republican.

I still haven't settled on a candidate, but Thompson was one of the ones I considered acceptable. This will narrow the choices.

For those of you voting absentee because of the convenience, this is a case in point of why that's sometimes not a good idea. If you've already sent in your vote for Thompson, you've just wasted your vote.

  1. First I was a Duncan Hunter supporter...until he dropped out. Then I was a Fred Thompson supporter...until he dropped out. (With this track record, maybe I could become a Hillary or Obama supporter. Hmmmm...) But seriously I have narrowed it down to either the Romney or Guliani camp. Yet again it is looking like my vote for President will be for the lesser of two evils.

  2. Thompson was the first qualified politician I could have voted for in my life. He is the first guy that seemed like he really didn't want the job. I have always felt that should be a requirement for public office.
