Sen. Fritz Hollings ($-Disney) and his proposed law, the Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act, would require devices that can record or playback digital media to carry government-mandated copy-protection technology to thwart piracy.
Princeton University's Edward Felton is compiling "Fritz's Hit List" -- a series of devices that would be affected by the new bill.
The list includes: Big Mouth Billy Bass -- the hokey singing fish novelty item -- a digital baby monitor, a digital answering machine and a slew of other devices.
Fritz's law turns out to not only be stupid, but silly as well.
