No one's pro-abortion?

A week ago when I mentioned that the new dean of the Episcopal Divinity School had given a "sermon" lauding abortion as a "blessing" I was informed by a pro-choice commenter from an Ivy League school that "No one likes abortions, not even the women who decide to have them." I was confused because I had just quoted a person who obviously liked abortions. You don't call something you hate a "blessing."

Well, a week later and I've found another.

We need to create a world where a woman having an abortion is as respected and supported as a woman having a baby. As the movement for abortion pride and the recognition of women's human rights progresses, we will continue to speak out with our voices, our experiences, our bodies - and our lives. YES - ABORTION PRIDE!

Earlier in her article, the morally depraved Marcy Bloom, refers to women as the "gatekeepers of life." That strikes me as odiously as the infamous "Arbeit macht frei" -- a euphemism that hides a tragic evil. Women decide who lives and who dies -- and that's a good thing?

There's a fringe on the right that sees abortion as murder and believe that because it is, that gives them the right to defend the unborn by killing doctors and blowing up clinics. They're wrong, misguided and if they act on this belief in that way, they're evil too.

There's also a fringe on the left that believes that abortion is a moral good and should be celebrated.

Both of these extremes exist. I'd appreciate it if those on the "pro-choice" side would acknowledge that, yes, there are people in their camp who like abortions, who celebrate abortions, who see more abortions as not necessarily a bad thing.

  1. I predict we will be seeing lots more of this. That it will become less "fringe." For more and more people, the only god is themselves, and the unrestrained self is ready to sacrifice whatever gets in its way. People have been inhibited in the past by the habits inherited from Christianity and Judaism, but the habits are wearing off.

Abortion will be called a "blessing" because it is the sacrament of the nihilist. Nothing expresses so clearly the worship of the self as killing ones children because they happen to be inconvenient!
