Energy Secretary Steven Chu is a very smart scientist.
He’s a piss-poor manager. Just a week after the GAO gave his agency an 85 percent failure rate [PDF Format] when it came to following the proper procedures for awarding loan guarantees to companies such as Solyndra, Beacon Power and EnerDel, Chu was up on Capitol Hill telling Congress about the job he’s done on gas prices.
I paid $4.37.9 a gallon last weekend to fill up my tank to visit my girlfriend. If this is an A grade, then the curve is seriously out of whack.
I think Chu’s got a rather unique problem. I suspect the guy never got anything less than an “A” in any class he cared about in his entire educational career. He might’ve received a “C” in gym or freshman comp, but anything having to do with science?
The man is simply incapable of perceiving that he could be doing less than a bang-up job.
It’s something that seems to be going around in the Obama administration.
