Just got done watching Democrat Rep. James Clyburn, the House majority whip, on CNN's "Situation Room." Host Wolf Blitzer asked Clyburn about move by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to change the rules to effectively table the Colombian free trade agreement.
Clyburn said he approved of the move and that the President was wrong to send it to the House in its current form. According to Clyburn, the reason why Bush ignored Pelosi's warnings on sending the bill to the House is that he is used to dealing with a Republican-run House that has no African-American members (Clyburn is black). Whereas the Democrat-run Congress has 22 blacks, so many Hispanics, etc.
Don't try to understand it. You're not supposed to. It was merely flimsy pretext to play the race card.
For the record, Clyburn is a supporter of your favorite post-racial candidate, Barack Obama.
