Standing up for free speech

Matthew Hoy
By Matthew Hoy on February 4, 2008

Some easily offended members of the religion of pieces have discovered that Wikipedia's entry for the founder of their religion, Muhammad, includes historical artwork depicting him.

This has resulted in a lot of anger and a petition, but no riots -- yet.

Surprisingly, the editors at Wikipedia have demonstrated a heck of a lot more intestinal fortitude than most of the newspaper editors in this country.

Please note that discussion on this talk page has determined that pictures of Muhammad will not be removed from this article and any removal of the pictures without discussion here first will be reverted on sight. [emphasis in original]
