Dan Dierdorf and math

Yes, I shouldn't expect a guy who landed on his head for most of the first half of his adult life to be able to do calculus, but simple division would be nice. Watching the Chargers vs. Titans this afternoon (I TiVo'd it so as to not have to wake up early.) I wanted to konk Dan Dierdorf on the head after he repeatedly told viewers -- right after a graphic appeared on screen showing that Chargers QB Philip Rivers was 8-for-17 passing -- that his completion percentage was "way below" 50 percent.

Do the math Dierdorf. If he completes his next pass, he's at 50 percent. If he gets lucky and does two in a row, then I guess he's "way over" 50 percent.

On the day, Rivers finished at 21-for-40 -- or "way over" 50 percent.
