San Diegans will pick a new mayor in tomorrow's special election. It's highly unlikely that any candidate will top the 50 percent +1 threshold needed to win the race outright. Which means another election will be held a month from now.
San Diego's City Council is currently short 3 members -- the recently resigned Mayor Dick Murphy and two convicted councilmen gone -- and the city is facing a huge shortfall funding its pension system.
San Diego is probably the nation's most mismanaged city -- I encourage you to vote, but I'm skeptical that it will have any effect on the downward direction of "America's Finest City."
