Well, I certainly hope the GOP stays in the majority. However, I also believe that if the Republicans caved -- preserving the never-before-contemplated filibuster for the day in that they are in the minority -- and sought to actually use the filibuster against a Democrat president and a Democrat majority in the Senate, then the Democrats would immediately use the nuclear option themselves. Democrats would do it without a second thought and to the adoring cheers of The New York Times editorial page.
