I'm watching "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism." Why? Because I've decided I need a little self-abuse.
I rented it from Netflix -- it was easy to get -- unlike FarenHYPE 9/11 which has a "Long Wait."
Don't waste your time on this. Seriously. I can't believe I wasted my time on it.
The vast majority of the "crimes" that the Fox News Channel is guilty of are just silly. They actually spend about five minutes with the guy who composed the "Fox News Alert" music. He was complaining that the music was originally composed for the Columbine school shooting, and now they were using it for what he considered more foolish things like Martha Stewart's court case.
The "fauxumentary" appears especially laughable when you consider incidents like Friday's Scarborough Country or CBS News' fake Bush National Guard memos.
The fauxumentary was hilariously funny when it showed video of CNN foreign correspondent Christiane Amanpour complaining about the pressure news organizations were being put under by the Bush administration and Fox News. Amanpour made these comments -- on Fox News. Of course, "Outfoxed" completely ignored the admission by CNN executive Eason Jordan that CNN covered-up Saddam Hussein's atrocities to ensure they had access to the country.
Later in the fauxumentary, Fox News' Carl Cameron gets whacked because his wife was working on President George W. Bush's campaign. The fauxumentary's producers are outraged by this -- but ignore the fact that CNN's star foreign correspondent -- Amanpour -- was married to Clinton State Department spokesman James Rubin.
Nope, no problems there.
If you're looking for a dishonest piece of left-wing propaganda -- this movie is it.
Despite all of the movie's problems, it does however provide a lesson for GOP filmmakers as they put their products out on DVD. When they made this DVD, they disabled the fast forward button. I can't just skip ahead until I see something interesting, I've got to watch every second.
It's not bad enough that they want to raise taxes -- now they want to disable features on your DVD player. Pretty soon, they'll make you watch CNN.
