Estrada withdraws

Filibustered, Harvard-educated, Honduran-born appeals court nominee Miguel Estrada has withdrawn his name from consideration by the Senate.

Somebody ought to stick their foot up New York Sen. Chuck Schumer's ***.

But Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), a Judiciary Committee member, said Estrada's decision to withdraw his nomination could have been avoided if the administration had been forthcoming about Estrada's views, including the legal memos sought by Senate Democrats. "Unfortunately, this White House thumbed its nose at the Constitutionally-prescribed role of the Senate in the nominations process when it admonished Miguel Estrada not to answer the fair, reasonable, and relevant questions we put to him," Schumer said in a statement.

Yeah, a foot probably wouldn't fit there until you removed his head first.
