Religion of Peace

If you're not a dedicated reader of the blogosphere you may have missed this item that was all the buzz yesterday. It seems that there is a message board system for Muslim youth at ClearGuidance.com.

As is the case with a lot of things, there's nothing wrong with the idea, but with the implementation. Among the topics discussed on the board include: Which video of murdering an "infidel" is the best; Suggestions for shooting at the White House; and comparative theology, i.e. Muslims good, everyone else: better off dead.

Here's one of the better posts regarding the "value" of the videos of Muslims killing "infidels:"

Brother Behz, there is worth in such videos, which can be seen simply by taking Ibn Musa's example. Living in the West, we are taught to be 'wimps', not to be able to stand the sight of blood or 'gore'. How are such muslims to go to the battlefield and kill those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger? How are they to do such acts in real life if they cannot even bear to even watch it on a screen? With increased exposure to such scenes, we become desensitized to the fear of blood which has been instilled in us.

Secondly, there is nothing wrong with watching these videos and talking about them as we do, if this too increases our tolerance of such acts and incites us towards them. Whether or not the Kuffar talk about what they do on the internet, rest assured that they do much worse to your very own brothers and sisters.

In fact, I learned a little bit about Islam from one of the posts. According to one of these Muslim scholars, it's good to be an infidel killed by a muslim (as opposed to dying in a car accident), because being killed by a Muslim gets the "infidel" (aka victim) into heaven.

Columnist James Lileks also addresses this issue on his Web site, comparing what is the norm in Islam to what is the norm in Christianity.

I speak only for my experience in my denomination in my time at that place. Of course I welcome any examples of Christian Teen chat sites that demand the faithful HATE MUSLIMS IN THEIR HEART and stab them in the same.

I'm sorry to say it, but I think that Islam is quickly coming to a fork in the road. Either the "liberal" Muslims (i.e. those that don't think it's OK to kill people of another faith) need to step up, teach tolerance, eschew violence, and start preaching love (as opposed to hate). Or radical Islam is going to be wiped out militarily. Yes, that means a lot of killing. But the things that I see at sites like ClearGuidance.com are convincing me that such a crusade would be defensive.

Islam spread through the Middle East at its creation by the sword. It may very well end in much the same way.

If Islam really is a religion of peace, the peacemakers must take it over. Muslim pundits on TV in the U.S., Canada and throughout the Middle East need to spend their time quashing the hatred like that displayed on this message site and throughout mosques and schools worldwide, instead of complaining that some airport security guards looked at them funny.

The only thing scarier than these kids is their parents. Hatred is learned at home.
