I carry no brief for New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin. I think he is like far too many politicians (the majority of the San Diego City Council in recent years included) who just go-along to get along and don’t take their responsibilities seriously.
Having said that, last night’s “60 Minutes” broadcast included a bit that reinforces my belief that African-Americans have a serious problem with racism and bigotry within their own community.
Correspondent Byron Pitts interviewed LSU professor of African American history Leonard Moore who is coming out with a new book on Nagin: “An Oreo in Chocolate City.”
Nagin deserves just about all the criticism he gets, but if whites or asians or Hispanics used similar terms, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and their cohort would be screaming bloody murder.
