Status update

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has upgraded my status from "out" to "questionable." Drugs are appearing to have an affect on me -- pain is no longer a serious problem but there continues to be numbness in my left shin. Sitting up is no longer a problem, but I'm not going to be running any marathons […]

Injury update

I get over the flu just in time to get hit with sciatica. I write this laying on my side with my laptop on an adjacent table. Sitting up is no good. Standing is worse. Blogging will resume when I can feel my left leg.

Not dead yet

Though that's what it felt like. I'm recovering from a really nasty bug which had drained me of energy for a day or two before draining me of my stomach contents yesterday. It's just in the past hour or so that I've been able to actually sit up for any period of time. Blogging should […]

Old home week

I never actually lived in what today is the Alpha Gamma Omega house in San Luis Obispo -- I graduated the year before the fraternity moved in -- but it was a kick to visit the San Luis Obispo Tribune Web site and see this little article on some of the fraternity houses -- complete […]

Merry Christmas

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas holiday. Here's a couple of things for you to read on this day. In the You-Thought-You-Had-It-Bad department, Slate rounds up the worst corporate gifts/parties/bonuses. With evidence that there may be liquid H20 on Mars -- and therefore life -- do you think it's really wise to put a […]

Weekend update

Posting has been nearly non-existent this week because I'm currently sick with the world's worst cold/cough/sore throat/runny nose ailment. Before "The Sickness" hit me full force I was able to attend a portion of Thursday's Grossmont Union High School District Board meeting where Hoystory The Elder (aka "Mr. Wonderful") was sworn in. Pastor Ronnie Short […]

Tech non-support

I can understand how tech support people can get frustrated. I've heard the stories about people complaining that their computer isn't working, and after asking enough questions the tech support person learns that the building has lost power -- who knew that computers required electricity? But I've also dealt with tech support people who clearly […]

Blogoversary

Five years ago today was my first blog post. I should write something profound, something meaningful, something that has lasting impact to commemorate this day. Instead, I'm going to watch some more football. Go Bolts!

The silly season

Usually the silly season is the one that just ended -- the months leading up to November elections. Earlier today, however, I discovered it is in fact the start of another silly season -- the holiday shopping season. I went to the local Circuit City today to pick up "Gears of War," the Xbox360's newest […]

Voting experience

I went to the polls a little later in the day this year than I typically do. When I arrived, the local NBC affiliate was outside interviewing a Hispanic guy in Spanish -- probably over the Escondido mayoral and council races and their recent ordinance that prohibits renting apartments/houses to illegal immigrants. By the time […]
