The AP reported Saturday that newly released documents show that “Cheney told FBI he didn’t know who leaked Plame’s identity.” This really isn’t news, but it’s still on CNN’s front page three days later.
The article is interesting because it weaves a story of suspicion and innuendo without telling you one important fact: Who did leak Plame’s identity?
The article goes through the conviction of Scooter Libby, Cheney’s chief of staff, for allegedly lying to investigators, but Libby wasn’t the leaker.
Richard Armitage was.
Richard Armitage name does not appear in the story.
There’s now evidence, or even unfounded third-party allegations, that Cheney knew Armitage was the leaker.
There’s a name for stories like this one: hit-pieces.
There’s a name for journalism practiced this way: bad.

"There’s now evidence, or even unfounded third-party allegations, that Cheney knew Armitage was the leaker."
Is that what you meant to write -- "There's NOW evidence ..."?
[Nope, I've fixed it now. It should've been "no" -ed.]
