The San Diego Unified School District apparently believes there's little difference between Junior ROTC programs and street gangs.
Marksmanship training must end on San Diego school district campuses, a split school board decided Tuesday.
Critics argued that the training, part of ROTC programs, sends the wrong message when three high school students have been killed in off-campus shootings in recent weeks, and campuses have zero tolerance regarding firearms.
Apparently all the punks doing the murdering got the idea from the fact that the kids in Junior ROTC (plain-old ROTC is for college students) are shooting pump-action air guns at targets under adult supervision as part of a rather rigorous military training program.
It's one thing for children to be unable to tell the moral difference between gang violence and military training, it's another for a school board to be so blinkered.
