Democrats in the Senate are preparing to start debating raising taxes like never before in an effort to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. If supporters are serious about solving this "problem" they could do best by committing suicide. Seriously, these gasbags in Washington, D.C., are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., a chief architect of the 500-page bill, said at a news conference the urgency of taking action against climate change cannot be overstated, declaring, "It's about our children, about their children, and about the planet we've inherited."
If she's so concerned about "the children," then maybe she'd like to explain to parents why she's going to jack up gas prices even higher so that parents can't take their kids to soccer games or cross-country trips or why they'll have to bundle up even more in the cold winters because they can't afford the heating oil.
And, speaking of inconvenient truths, it is getting colder.
Confirming what many of us have already noted from the anecdotal evidence coming in of a much cooler than normal May, such as late spring snows as far south as Arizona, extended skiing in Colorado, and delays in snow cover melting in many parts of the northern hemisphere, the University of Alabama, Huntsville (UAH) published their satellite derived Advanced Microwave Sounder Unit data set of the Lower Troposphere for May 2008.
It is significantly colder globally, colder even than the significant drop to -0.046°C seen in January 2008.
The global [delta]T from April to May 2008 was -.195°C
UAH
2008 1 -0.046
2008 2 0.020
2008 3 0.094
2008 4 0.015
2008 5 -0.180Compared to the May 2007 value of 0.199°C we find a 12 month [Delta]T is -.379°C.
But even more impressive is the change since the last big peak in global temperature in January 2007 at 0.594°C, giving a 16 month [Delta]T of -0.774°C which is equal in magnitude to the generally agreed upon “global warming signal” of the last 100 years.
Yes, you read that right. Over the past 16 months, the Earth has cooled more than global warming alarmists have said it has heated up over the past 100 years.
Of course, if you want an explanation, then don't look to the scaremongers -- because they don't have one, at least one that makes any sense.

A general rule to go by:
If you hear person X argue that we must do Y "for the children" it is a safe bet that person X lacks any logical reasoning behind their position and is merely trying to advance an argument that they agree with emotionally, but don't comprehend rationally.
