It's been a dozen or so hours since I wrote this post on Jennifer Hunter of the Chicago Sun-Times and I'm still in a state of shock.
I must confess that I honestly expected a correction. I thought there might be some explanation and acknowledgement that journalists should use publicly available resources like OpenSecrets.org to determine if people really are who they claim to be.
The last thing I expected was a hysterical, lashing-out at everyone involved -- the headline writer, the editor and readers who bothered to fact-check her -- except the person who actually wrote the article.
Why are journalists held in such low esteem? Mary Mapes. Stephen Glass. Dan Rather. CBS News. Jennifer Hunter. The Chicago Sun-Times.
Unfortunately, the list just keeps on growing.
