There's been some hubbub about 14-year-old Julia Wilson's MySpace page, which for a time featured a picture of President Bush, the words "Kill Bush" and a dagger stabbing him in the hand.
Wilson, described as an honors student, isn't terribly bright. Her posting got her a visit from the Secret Service.
Is the Secret Service at times overzealous when it comes to investigating threats against the president? Certainly. But that's understandable; several presidents have been assassinated.
On Friday, the teenager said the agents' questioning led her to tears.
"I wasn't dangerous. I mean, look at what's (stenciled) on my backpack - it's a heart. I'm a very peace-loving person," said Wilson, an honor student who describes herself as politically passionate. "I'm against the war in Iraq. I'm not going to kill the president."
Oh, she has a heart on her backpack. Isn't that sweet? Does she draw unicorns too?
Julia Wilson said the agents threatened her by saying she could be sent to juvenile hall for making the threat.
"They yelled at me a lot," she said. "They were unnecessarily mean."
Somebody call the Waaahmbulance!
Wilson and her parents said the agents were justified in questioning her over her MySpace.com posting. But they said they believe agents went too far by not waiting until she was out of school.
Yeah, wouldn't want to embarass the little honors student now would we?
Seriously, compare the handwringing over little miss sunshine's threat against the president and the treatment of students who post threats of violence against other students and teachers on Web pages. Authorities are apparently supposed to quickly disregard the former and take the latter as gravely serious.
Miss Wilson, welcome to the real world. Grow up.

This girl is a TOT - a "Thug of Tomorrow." She has no respect for the presidency at 14 - what will happen when she is 18? 20? 30?
If she thinks that the Secret Service was mean to her now, let her get to age 18 and then post that ridiculous threat against the President. Then she will go to jail. And her moronic father (I saw him on Fox News - his facial expression is a great sign for "DUH!") thinks this was over the top? Why are these people in this country again anyway? Weren't they threatening to go to Canada after Bush won in 2004?
