The fallout from the Pope's quotation of a 14th century Byzantine Christian emperor continued today with the murder of an Italian nun who was working in a Somali hospital.
Yes, the religion of peace and tolerance is at it again.
A London-based Arabic-language newspaper suggested that the Pope's statement could lead to a religious war between Christians and Muslims.
Hussein Shabakshy wrote in an article published by the London-based Arabic-language newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat “It is clear that such remarks only contribute to the fueling of the fire raging between Islam and the West. There is no difference between Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri speaking from their caves in Tora Bora and the stage of an important Christian saint. Both parties contribute to the world verbal weapons for mass destruction.”
Yep, the Pope's words are "verbal weapons of mass destruction" which have prompted Christians to murder exactly zero Muslims. On the other hand, Bin Laden and al-Zawahiri's words prompted the murder of nearly 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001, and thousands more Muslims throughout the Middle East in the ensuing years by promoting sectarian strife in Afghanistan and Iraq.
