I got this week's Time magazine in the mail today. One of the interesting factoids that jumped out at me is on Page 18 -- the first two numbers highlight the state of global warming.
58.3 degress: Global average surface temperature, in Fahrenheit, in 2005 -- the hottest year on record.
10,000: Years since the earth has been this hot, according to estimates from NASA scientists
So, let me see if I get the conventional wisdom right: SUVs and other uses of fossil fuels are raising the global temperature to a level not seen since long before there were SUVs or power plants spewing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Makes you wonder if we have anything at all to do with it. Maybe, just maybe, it's that big yellow ball of gas 90-some million miles away.
