I must confess that I'm a little bit mystified why Democrats are so concerned about who President Bush's political staff are. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer was on "Fox News Sunday" this morning urging the president to fire Karl Rove and others so that he could "move forward."
This is a new side to Chuck that I hadn't seen before. In the past, he hasn't been so concerned about making sure a Republican president was effective and politically popular. Are we to suddenly believe that Schumer wants President Bush to be successful in whatever he does? Or maybe it's just the opposite.
Schumer has repeatedly been in front of TV cameras in the last week or so, and everyone -- Chris Wallace included -- seem to have forgotten what has been dubbed Chuckaquiddick. There were no questions to Schumer about the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's illegal acquisition of Senate candidate Michael Steele's (R-Md.) credit report by two of Schumer's staffers.
I realize that a credit report isn't nearly as sexy as an outed CIA agent, but that doesn't mean that the media should ignore the issue altogether.
