Blogging slowdown

Robert Jordan's latest book in the Wheel of Time series, "Knife of Dreams" came out today. Blogging will be sluggish until I can finish it. I first started reading this series when I was in college -- and the end is finally in sight. This is the penultimate installment.

I'm approximately halfway through, and I can say that this is much better than the last book "Crossroads of Twilight," in which nothing really happened. I understood Jordan's need to move all of the pieces into place -- but it was painful to read so many pages with nothing actually occurring. There was lots of talk but not much action.

Well, things are beginning to snowball now, and it's delicious. It'll probably be another two years before we get the final installment, but it's probably good for my reading schedule. Every time a new book is due to come out, I end up re-reading the saga from the very beginning -- this time it took me just more than a month to get through it all.

For those who haven't had the time to re-read the entire series, but are still interested in reading Jordan's latest, I found a helpful summary here. This is, of course, not something you should read in lieu of the actual books themselves, but it is a good refresher.
