Several months ago I predicted that a sympathetic judge would let Kerri Francis Dunn, the college professor that vandalized her own car with racist slurs, off with a slap on the wrist.
I suspect that a sympathetic judge will probably let Dunn off with a slap on the wrist -- probation and a sizable fine. That sort of sentence would be a mistake. Dunn attempted to fan the flames of racism. She assaulted the psychological well-being of minority students by creating a climate of fear. Her fraud also falsely cast a cloud of suspicion every single white student on campus.
This week, Judge Charles Horan proved me wrong, sentencing the 40-year-old woman to one year in prison.
Reading the judge's comments, you might think that he reads Hoystory.
"What she did was at least temporarily terrorize the minority students on campus and make suspects out of the rest," Judge Charles Horan said when handing down the sentence in Pomona Superior Court.
Great minds think alike.
