Today's New York Times has three letters responding to Kristof's Saturday column (fisked below). It should come as no surprise that (as is the Times' habit) they all concur with Kristof's assessment of evangelical Christians.

The most galling statement comes from the Rev. G. Patrick Thompson, who recalled something his New Testament professor said in at his unnamed seminary.

"Jesus is not coming back, people."

I wonder what seminary this was. Question: Do you have to be a Christian to teach the New Testament at a seminary?
