My column in this week's San Luis Obispo Tribune is a Top 10 Most Annoying Stories of 2016 (state and local only). State and local because the paper has asked me to focus locally because they've got plenty of syndicated columns available (that they pay for) that focus on national topics. My column includes a link to Arroyo Grande resident Rita M. Jensen's comment on this blog from a couple of weeks ago that makes one think that she is truly a lovely individual with lots of friends.
I must confess that I'm not exactly sure why, other than for access to the wisdom provided by my semi-monthly column, any conservative would subscribe to the paper whose opinion pages are so left-wing and not reflective of what is a slightly red county. For example, today's lead opinion story on the front page isn't my column, but a defense of Planned Parenthood reprinted from fellow McClatchy paper The Sacramento Bee.
That column includes an obvious falsehood (talk about fake news).
Tennessee’s Rep. Marsha Blackburn and the fellow Republicans on her “Select Panel on Infant Lives” — launched last year in the wake of the bogus “fetal parts” video smear led by California anti-abortion activist David Daleiden…
This characterization of Daleiden's investigative work is false. But this is fake news that Planned Parenthood and its allies in the media support.
