What’s that you’re carrying?

If you’re CNN, then it would be “water” and it would be for President Obama.

The media likes polls. Polls are easy. Polls are simple. They’re maximum impact for minimum effort. Every four years we get report after report on Candidate A’s polling in relation to Candidate B. Policy differences between the candidates? Background and biography? Too much work.

Which brings us to the dog that didn’t bark. In this case the dog is CNN and the barking that didn’t happen is Gallup’s 3-day average of President Obama’s approval rating dropping to a record-low of 39 percent.

If you count on CNN.com for your news, you’re not going to find that report anywhere.

I caught a bit of Rush Limbaugh on my way into work and he was playing a montage of clips from what he said was a single hour of CNN programming featuring anchor Wolf Blitzer and various reporters/commentators talking about President George W. Bush reaching a new low in approval rating back when he was in office.

The silence over this news is deafening.
