What you don't see

Maybe you'll recall back in the 2004 election that at least one newspaper Web site raised the ire of some on the right when people discovered that the cute picture of a little girl holding a pro-Bush sign while perched on her fathers' back had a derogatory file name. Most users never saw it, unless you right-clicked on it and tried to save it to your desktop or looked at the photo's properties -- then it was front and center. The paper apologized and most media outlets learned from this lesson.

Now, you'll have to trust me on this one, because you don't see what are known as the slug lines on stories that come over the wire. But the slug line on this Chicago Tribune story was: "BC-DEMOCRATS-TAXCUT". Just about every other story on the subject simply had a slug line reading simply "Taxes."

Just so you know where they're coming from.
