British "law"

Great Britain has become a case study in recent years in how not to deal with crime. The nation has so restricted gun ownership that it is illegal for people to defend their own homes with one. If a robber breaks into your home and you're there and you shoot him you can expect to go to jail for a long time. You'll probably serve more time than the robber.

Another demonstration of the judicial elite's disconnect with common sense came from the British equivalent of the chief justice of the United States Supreme Court. Lord Phillips -- complete with silly wig -- complains that some murderers are in jail "too long."

Unfortunately, he's not suggesting that they be executed instead.
