Editor & Publisher is running an article on the controversial cartoons below and it contains this little gem from Associated Press executive editor Jill Carroll:
Kathleen Carroll, AP executive editor, said the news cooperative has long withheld images it deemed offensive, such as photos and video of beheadings. "We have a very longstanding policy of not distributing material that is found to be offensive," she said...
Well, that would depend on what she means by "offensive." Offensive meaning only to Muslims maybe? Because it certainly doesn't apply to Christians -- the AP did distribute this photo earlier this week.
I'm sure that millions of Christians were at least a little bit "offended" by this image. So, was this something that slipped through the AP's "policy"? Or does that "policy" only apply if the offendees carry AK-47s?
