I'm a big "Mythbusters" fan and often watch an episode (I've got my DVR set to record them) when I've got 45 minutes to kill. So, I'm watching an episode called "Confederate Rocket" and they're trying to recreate a rumored Civil War-era rocket that reportedly flew about 100 miles.
At various stages in their mythbusting, they're doing some basic chemistry. Makers of those '50s era chemistry sets would undoubtedly get themselves sued out of business nowadays -- for obvious reasons -- so, attempting to be good citizens, the "Mythbusters" have bleeped out key parts of the recipes.
That might have worked before the advent of the Internet.
They made laughing gas and gun cotton.
