The Los Angeles Times' media critic, David Shaw (who usually does good work), has gotten quite a bit of flak from the blogosphere because of his disdain for non-journalists practicing punditry. Unlike blogs, Shaw takes pride in the fact that reporters for newspapers have their work vetted by "four experienced editors" before going to press.

An initiative aimed at halting voting rights and other benefits to illegal aliens in Washington was derided last night as an "anti-immigrant" movement that threatens the "soul of America."
